In honor of the World Gold Panning Championships there are many different programs and unforgettable activities.

Summer theatre play “Kultamaan Unelma” on Sunday August 4th at 19

The competition area of the Tankavaara World Championships acts Sunday as a summer theatre scene, when the theatre group Ivaloiset marches in the new play to the gold of a number of gold men and women! Kultamaan Unelma (The Gold Country’s Dream) is a small story about people and the Gold. Things that have preserved the centuries and decade of their own, unchanging values, even when the earth and the world have been shaken by wars, diseases and famine. The history of Lapland’s gold began 150 years ago, when Lihr’s research group made his long journey to the north and found precious metal, including the Ivalo River. Ddream of the golden land was born. It has now been cherished for half a hundred years. People have changed, methods evolved. But the two are unchanged: gold and the person who is searching for it. The Golden Age’s dream was written by Ritva Savela and insightful music has been composed by Katri Kittilä, who is also the team responsible for the training and implementation. The gold play was produced by the amateur theatre of Ivaloiset.

Tickets at door €15, children under 12 years €7. Performed in Finnish.

supervised activities for children are available 4 hours per day in the afternoons. The program fits to children from 7 years. Meeting at the Nugget building at 10 am. Workshops take place in the area of Tankavaara Gold Village and the surrounding area. Remember clothing according to the weather!
